Call me a hypocrite. I don’t care.
A few weeks back I wrote a column stating that all good boxing fans should boycott BOTH the Manny Pacquiao-Joshua Clottey and Floyd Mayweather, Jr.-Shane Mosley bouts.
If Pacquiao fans really want to see their fighter face Floyd Mayweather sometime next year they need to make a statement that will be heard loud and clear in Grand Rapids, Las Vegas and the offices of Golden Boy Promotions. A shot heard ’round the world.
I say this based on the recent article out of Michigan where Floyd, Jr. stated that he will demand a 65-35 slit based on the fact that his bout with Sugar Shane Mosley will easily outperform the Pacquiao-Clottey fight.
Many boxing writers, myself included, believe that this is PBF’s way of getting out of a fight he doesn’t want to take well in advance. A preemptive strike to make sure Pacquiao-Mayweather never happens.
Another ploy by the Chicken Boy.
Floyd knows that Bob Arum will never agree to a 65-35 split. Making such a demand effectively cancels a possible Pacquiao-Mayweather showdown before negotiations even start.
There’s one drawback with Money’s master plan. Neither fight has taken place yet.
That means fight fans and Pacquiao fans can do something about Mayweather’s preemptive strike. If you’re a boxing fan like myself, a Manny Pacquiao fan or a PBF hater this is the time to act.
Fans need to show Money who’s the boss by supporting the Pacquaio-Clottey bout. They can buy that fight in order to make the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight happen.
They need to get their friends to buy it, too.
And feel free to call me a hypocrite. I can take it.

manny will have more pvp buys coz his the only star on his fight this march 13. while on the other hand the fight is with the two stars, so the pvp buys will be produce by the two stars. Pacquiao= more pvp buys VS. Mayweather Mosley= more pvp buys.
March 13 fight the people who buy pvp is just to watch how Pacquiao will knockout Clottey, so they buy pvp because of Pacquiao.
May 1 fight the people who buy pvp is because of mosley and mayweather and the people want to see mayweather get knocked out. so they buy pvp not because of mayweather but also because of mosley.
so i dont think that mayweather has the right to imposed those 60/35 purse split. that is way to dumb and so obvious. bill cody is right. its another way of floyds excuse to get away from a Pacquiao fight.
Pacquiao and Mayweather reflects opposing personalities and portrays a different kind of attitude towards the sport. They’re plain example of warriors of humility and pride and simplicity vs egoism. Manny is quiet while Floyd likes trash talking. PAC respects his opponents even if he beats them while KFC hates them all and humiliates them more. Pacquiao is a brawler and a knock out artist while Mayweather is a defensive boxer and a counter puncher. Whichever side you will take just make sure it will be for the good of all the boxing fans. Boxing is a sport and should not be dominated by hate and personal envy. Nor filled with media hype and self proclaimed greatness. Boxing should be fought in the ring not in word wars. Let’s promote goodwill and sportsmanship. Let’s make boxing great and enjoyable. Pacquiao is just one of those rare athletes who can be role models and entertaining at the same time. That is valid reason enough why Time Magazine chose him 100 Most Influential people.
Again, Manny Pacquiao is welterweight champ, Floyd Mayweather is only a challenger. Manny is Pound for Pound king and rated No.1 while Floyd is No.2. Pacquiao holds the record of 7 world titles in 7 different weight divisions, Mayweather on the other hand won only 6 world titles. PACman was awarded the rare Fighter of Decade (2000-2009) on an era where PBF claims his greatness (2000-2007 & 2009). Now who’s the Boss? The record shows and all the world and all the boxing fans knew it!
