SAN FRANCISCO — Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao was chosen the second best boxer of all time by a global poll on online boxing site that drew more than half a million votes, according to online boxing site, World’s Greatest Ever Boxer
Pacquiao, the consensus best boxer of his era, got a 56 percent vote as the world’s best featherweight of all time, followed by Willie Pep with 15 percent and Salvador Sanchez with 8 percent.
The worldwide poll affirmed the stature of the legendary Sugar Ray Robinson as the best boxer who ever lived after he topped the polls as the best in two weight divisions – welterweight and middleweight.
Robinson was also picked as the best in the welter division by 39 percent of respondents, followed closely by Sugar Ray Leonard with 36 percent and Oscar De La Hoya with 12 percent.
Muhammad Ali was voted the world’s greatest heavyweight by 48 percent, with Mike Tyson a distant second with 16 percent and Rocky Marciano third (11 percent).
